drop.

Computer ⇄ phone, on the same Wi-Fi. Scan once, send both ways.

Send files to your phone, or from it

  1. Put both on the same Wi-Fi.
  2. Point your phone's camera at the code and open the link.
  3. Drop files on either device. They go to the other one.

The site only introduces the two devices. The files go straight between them on your network, and never pass through a server.

Not connecting?
  • Both devices on the same Wi-Fi, not mobile data.
  • A home network, not a guest, café, hotel or office one.
  • No VPN on either device.
  • On Windows, the Wi-Fi set to Private.

Questions

How do the files get to the other device?

Your browser sends them straight to the other device over WebRTC, the technology video calls use. The site only introduces the two devices at the start, by passing a few lines of connection details between them, and then it's out of the picture.

Are my files private?

They never pass through a server and aren't stored anywhere. WebRTC data channels are always encrypted (RFC 8831), so others on the same Wi-Fi can't read them.

Do both need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

Yes, that's what it's made for. If the two can't connect, the page says the likely reason and what to do: a phone on mobile data, a guest or office network that keeps devices apart, a VPN, or a Windows network set to Public.

Which devices work?

Any two with a recent browser: iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows, in either direction. Two phones or two computers work too. The phone's camera opens the link, so there's nothing to install.

Is there a size limit?

There's no set limit. Files over 100 MB ask you first, because the receiving browser keeps each file in memory until you save it. Save files as they arrive and remove them with ×, and keep both screens on: phones pause pages in the background.

Do you track what I send?

No. Your files go straight from one device to the other and never reach a server.
